SUPPORT and INFORMATION for PEOPLE with AUTISM, their FAMILIES and CAREGIVERS
|
In order to accomplish its mission, ASNCGC provides the following regularly scheduled outreach, support and informational services.
MONTHLY MEETINGS: ASNCGC holds general membership meetings open to the public from 6:30-8:00 PM on the third Friday night of each month during the school year.
We invite speakers to present on various issues affecting families and their loved ones with autism. We currently meet at the Brooks Global Elementary School, Westover Terrace, Greensboro. Respite care for children is provided upon request. A notice of the time, place, and subject of the next meeting is in the center column of this page. Please call Monique Justice @ 580-6548 for more information or send us an email.
COFFEE BREAKS at DELICIOUS BAKERY on Battleground Avenue! Join us for coffee at Delicious Bakery on Battleground Avenue. Our "coffee breaks" are as popular as our monthly meetings! This informal venue allows parents to get to know each other and exchange ideas and strategies for parenting their child with autism and to discuss sibling issues. For parents with more flexible schedules, we have our morning coffee break the second Friday of each month at 9:30 AM.

We will add any other church, synagogue, mosque, or other place of worship that wants to be on the list and which is recommended by at least one person within the autism community. Coffee Break
I would like to hear from you all regarding Coffee Break. It has come to my attention that having Coffee Break in different places is favorable. It has also come to my attention that some of you would like it to see it held closer to High Point. If you have any suggestions as to where we can meet closer to High Point I would love to hear them. May will be our last Coffee Break until school starts back. I appreciate your feedback, it helps us to help you!!! |

GOLF TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE
|
It is just about time to start planning what is our biggest fundraiser of the year! Planning this tournament means that spring is right around the corner. Right now most of us are really ready for some warmer temperatures as well as spring colors in the landscape. Course details are being finalized. As soon as this is completed we will form a committee and set the date for the first meeting.
This year we are thrilled to have Nishaka Proctor, owner of Events With Excellence, volunteering her services for tournament planning. Stay tuned for more details! |

RESPITE OPPORTUNITIES
|
The Arc of Greensboro, in partnership with FSNCC, is excited to announce the start of a new Saturday respite cooperative for children with special needs, ages 3-8. This program is for families who do not have CAP or other types of public funding for respite services. While there is no cost for this service, an adult from each participating family must volunteer approximately 6 Saturdays throughout the year. The program will be held at Starmount Presbyterian Church Preschool from 9:00am-noon on alternating Saturdays. Sibling Saturdays will be offered every other month so that brothers and sisters can also attend. Participating parents will attend an orientation session and volunteer training session. This program will begin on February 7th.
If you would like to participate please contact Ginger Walton at gwalton@arcg.org or call The Arc of Greensboro at (336) 373-1076. |

Study Seeks Participants
|
Victoria Miller, a PhD candidate in Australia, is seeking teachers and parents to fill out a 20 minute questionnaire as part of a research study. The purpose of my research is to investigate the possibility that some girls and boys with High Functioning Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome are not being diagnosed because they appear differently - these girls and boys just seem ‘different’ in some way but people don’t properly understand why.
If you wish to participate in the study, click here. |
