SUPPORT and INFORMATION for PEOPLE with AUTISM, their FAMILIES and CAREGIVERS
|
In order to accomplish its mission, ASNCGC provides the following regularly scheduled outreach, support and informational services.
MONTHLY MEETINGS: ASNCGC holds general membership meetings open to the public from 6:30-8:00 PM on the third Friday night of each month during the school year.
We invite speakers to present on various issues affecting families and their loved ones with autism. We currently meet at the Brooks Global Elementary School, Westover Terrace, Greensboro. Respite care for children is provided upon request. A notice of the time, place, and subject of the next meeting is in the center column of this page. Please call Chris Hocker @ 854-9497 for more information or send us an email.
COFFEE BREAKS Our "coffee breaks" are as popular as our monthly meetings! This informal venue allows parents to get to know each other and exchange ideas and strategies for parenting their child with autism and to discuss sibling issues. For parents with more flexible schedules, we have our morning coffee break the second Friday of each month at 9:30 AM.
Call Chris Hocker @ 854-9497 for more information and check out our events page!

We will add any other church, synagogue, mosque, or other place of worship that wants to be on the list and which is recommended by at least one person within the autism community. STUDY NEED PARTICIPANTS
|
The Junior League of Greensboro & The University of North Carolina at Greensboro are working together to identify key challenges and needs for improving the quality of childcare and/or pre-school services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD ) and their families.
They are seeking parents who used or tried to use childcare and/or pre-school services for their child with ASD (or at- risk of ASD) when the child was in the age range of 2-5 years old. Parents who participate will meet in a small group for 1-1.5 hours to discuss their experience. By giving a little bit of your time and identifying the areas that need improvement, you could significantly help many families in the future.
If you are interested, please contact Cherise S. Jones at 336-674-8297 or cherisej@bellsouth.net by March 11, 2010. |

RESPITE OPPORTUNITIES
|
The Arc of Greensboro, in partnership with FSNCC, is excited to announce the start of a new Saturday respite cooperative for children with special needs, ages 3-8. This program is for families who do not have CAP or other types of public funding for respite services. While there is no cost for this service, an adult from each participating family must volunteer approximately 6 Saturdays throughout the year. The program will be held at Starmount Presbyterian Church Preschool from 9:00am-noon on alternating Saturdays. Sibling Saturdays will be offered every other month so that brothers and sisters can also attend. Participating parents will attend an orientation session and volunteer training session. This program will begin on February 7th.
If you would like to participate please contact Ginger Walton at gwalton@arcg.org or call The Arc of Greensboro at (336) 373-1076. |
